Rate Me?
So. I haven't posted in a while. But you see, Lovely Luke managed to lock us out of the computer, and I don't really have time to write a post at work. Also, my life is so boring there really has been nothing to write about except work, and you don't want to hear about that.
BUT, in saying that, I'm going to write about something related to teaching.
Some of you may be aware of the site 'Rate my Teacher'. It is a site where students can anonymously write about and rate their teachers. Thankfully I am not on the site as of yet, I'm too new (or maybe not worthy enough), but I imagine it won't be long as teachers from my school are being added all the time. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I'm not too worried as I have a pretty good relationship with most of my students, but there are those tenagers who will say you are mean/not fun/a bitch because you make them do work and don't let them gossip or play rugby in class. I have read some of the comments about the other teachers and some of them are a little unfair.
And it is anonymous, so kids aren't even owning up to what they think.
How would you feel if you were rated on a website that everyone can read? And not by adult clients who expect a professional service but by often hormonal angsty teens who aren't so much expecting a service from you as believe you are there to make their life hard.
Maybe I shouldn't check it from now on, just incase I find something I don't want to know... who am I kidding, I'm far too curious.

I wondered where you had gone :-)
Anyway...I think the idea of having students rate you annonomously is a v bad idea. There was a case a few years ago where some UK ex pupils had written pretty bad things about an old teacher on FriendsReunited.co.uk. He sued and won I think.
Don't worry, I haven't disappeared. :)
Yeah, I really hope nothing too bad gets in there, but I think they do scren the comments first. Doesn't mean they can't be untrue though
